Club Update - 28th July 2020

Following recently updated guidance for tennis venues, the Committee are pleased to confirm that the benches on our tennis courts are now back in use. We would kindly ask that members continue to adhere to social distancing and hand hygiene requirements when using the benches. Members will be using the benches at their own risk.

We would like to thank all members for their continued support.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:
  • All players on court must be registered with the tennis club and have paid their annual subscription fee. Members may now bring guests to the club and each guest may visit up to 5 times a year. Membership must be notified of this in advance so that the guest's details are registered and payment must be made after the guest's visit.

  • The tennis court must have been booked via our online booking system and you must play only on the court booked. Members wishing to play on the wall at the club must book the court closest to the wall in order to do so.

  • The clubhouse is open from 11th July for toilet access only. All members must adhere to the clubhouse rules on display when entering.

  • Singles and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as members remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – four people from different households can now play doubles. When playing doubles with different households, members should agree in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court. Players must remain within their group on court and must not mix in with players on other courts.

  • Players no longer need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however, if members choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure they do not touch their face during play, and members should clean their hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required);

  • Players should still avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other courts where possible - use your racket/foot to return them

  • Members should bring hand sanitiser/wipes with them to the courts to apply when entering and leaving the tennis courts. Members should use alcohol gel after touching any court gates, fences and other equipment

  • Only if absolutely necessary should the winders on the nets be used. If doing so, please ensure that either gloves or hand sanitiser/wipes are used at all times.

  • Players should use their own rackets where possible. Where rackets are shared they must be thoroughly cleaned before and after use

  • Keep more than 2 metres away from the members of any other household who may be at the club at the same time as you.

  • When entering and exiting the tennis courts please be considerate of other players on site.

  • Please ensure the courts are locked if you are the last to leave

  • Members using the benches at the club do so at their own risk. Members must continue to adhere to social distancing and hand hygiene requirements when using the benches. All members must make sure that all their belongings are removed from court when exiting.

  • The usual rules apply with regard to supervision of Juniors. Yellow ball Juniors under 12 require adult supervision. Red/Orange/Green ball Juniors can only play with a parent who has ‘full’ or ‘parent’ membership with the club.

Club Update - 16th July 2020

In response to the recent government announcement, tennis venues have been requested to keep a temporary record of all those who have been on the premises for 21 days in order to assist with track and trace if so required. Consequently, the Committee have introduced the following measures at Coopers Hill Tennis Club.

General Court Bookings

All members wishing to play on our tennis courts are already required to book a court via our online booking system. We cannot emphasis enough the need for all members to adhere to this. No member should be playing on court without a court booking.

We would now also ask that those members who have booked a court keep a record of who they have played with on court for 21 days. This is in case there is a need for us to contact you to determine who was playing on our courts on a particular day.

Whilst members are making their online court booking we would recommend that the name of the person/s you will be playing with is entered in the 'notes' box within the confirmation screen.

Junior Coaching

As individual places are booked online through our website the Head Coach will maintain a record of all Juniors in attendance.

Club Sessions

All members attending club sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will be required to register their attendance. A folder will be kept in the clubhouse where members on arrival will need to register their name at the beginning of the club session. It is our intention to introduce this procedure from Saturday 18th July. We should be grateful if those members in attendance would remind their fellow members at club session to sign-in.

For everyone’s safety it is important that all members continue to heed the government's advice if you are showing any of the symptoms associated with Covid-19 or if you are in any of the 'higher risk' categories.

We would again remind members that you will be using the courts and the clubhouse at your own risk. As you are aware taking part in any activity has the potential for increased risk of transmission of Covid-19. We would advise all members to read the government’s guidance on staying safe outside your home - Staying safe outside your home

At this time, the benches at the club remain out of use in accordance with recommended guidance. We would like to politely remind parents of ‘Yellow Ball Junior’ and 'Family' members that those Juniors under 12 years old require adult supervision. Parents of those Juniors under 12 must remain on site whilst their child is playing on court.

In addition, please be reminded that Junior members who have the ‘Red/Orange/Green Ball Junior’ membership are only permitted to play under the supervision of one of the club’s authorised coaches or with a parent who has a 'parent' membership or ‘full’ membership with the club. Alternatively parents would need to consider upgrading their child's membership.

We thank you for your continued cooperation. We appreciate that at times it can be confusing with all the ongoing updates, but we are required to update and amend our procedures in accordance with the latest government announcements. All our recent Covid-19 updates can be found on our website.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:

These rules are no longer applicable, please check latest update above for the latest club rules.

Club Update - 3rd July 2020

Club Sessions

These are now running on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 10am to 12noon, and on Saturday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm for those members with full membership.

From next week the weekday sessions have a block booking on courts 2, 3 and 4. On Saturday we have booked courts 2 and 3 at present until we see how much demand there is.

During club session we would please ask that players remain within their group on court and do not mix in with players on other courts as this is considered a breach of the guidelines of only 6 people being allowed to meet.

Clubhouse

It is our intention to open the clubhouse on 11th July, but only to allow members access to the toilets. Members will not be allowed to use the kitchen facilities or use the tables and chairs.

Further, members must not place any belongings in the clubhouse.

The clubhouse door must remain locked at all times when leaving the clubhouse. Only one member is allowed in at a time unless they are with a child who requires supervision. All members must bring hand sanitiser and use this before entering the clubhouse and on their exit.

All members must be considerate of other members of the club. Should the Committee find that members are not adhering to the clubhouse rules then they will have no other choice but to close the clubhouse to members. The safety of our members is a priority at this time.

We would like to remind members that when entering the clubhouse members are doing so entirely at their own risk.

For those members who have recently paid for a swipe card to access the clubhouse there will be a Committee member present at the clubhouse between 10am and 12noon on Saturday 11th July if you would like to come and collect your card.

Guests

We are pleased to announce that paid members are once again permitted to bring guests to the club. A guest fee of £6.00 is charged for each visit to the club.

At this time, we have increased the number of times a member is allowed to bring the same guest to 5 times in any one year.

Furthermore, we also request that any member bringing a guest emails Coopers Hill membership before playing at the following email address membership@coopershilltennis.co.uk to inform them of their name, contact telephone number, the name of the guest and the date they are playing.

The Match and Visitors Fees Secretary will maintain a log of all guests visiting the club.

Please note that a member may introduce no more than three guests on any one day. To avoid the unnecessary handling of cash and cheques at this time we would ask that members pay their guest fees online once the guest has played at the club using the reference - "Member's name-guest fee".

We would kindly ask that if any member has brought a guest to play at the club in the past few weeks, that they email us with the relevant details and pay the guest fees owing.

We thank members for continuing to adhere to the social distancing rules and it is great to see so many members on the courts.

We hope all members are continuing to enjoy their tennis and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any concerns.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:

Club Update - 1st June 2020

Following the latest update from government, regarding the further easing of lockdown restrictions, the Committee are pleased to confirm that the club’s ‘play rules’ have been updated to take into account the latest guidance.

The Committee would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to members for adhering to the restricted play rules that were introduced when the club reopened. This has meant that not only did the club reopening go smoothly, but most importantly it has ensured the continued safety of our members on court.

We remain committed to ensuring that the club provides a safe environment for its members, and therefore we include the latest ‘Return to Play’ rules in place at the club. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of following these measures and we thank you in advance for your cooperation. The most significant change to court play is that doubles play is now permitted.

Members must continue to book the four courts in use through the online court booking system. We will continue to review this on a weekly basis.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:

These rules are no longer applicable, please check latest update above for the latest club rules.

Now that lockdown restrictions have been eased further, we are pleased to confirm that we are in discussions with the Coaching Team regarding the club’s Coaching Programme and it is our intention to provide members with an update shortly.

Lastly, we would again request that members continue to heed the government's advice if you are showing any of the symptoms associated with Covid-19 or if you are in any of the 'higher risk' categories. All members will be using the courts at their own risk.

Club Update - May 2020

Following the Prime Minister's statement on Sunday evening, the Committee is pleased to confirm that the tennis club is planning to reopen later this week. It is the Committee’s duty to provide a safe environment for its members to return to, and accordingly we are assessing what measures must be introduced to achieve this.

The Committee has agreed that once the club reopens only four of the eight tennis courts will be in use. Furthermore, in order to keep foot traffic at the club to a minimum we will be introducing a booking system for all four courts in use. Members will be able to access the court booking system by clicking ‘Book a court…’ on our website. Only hourly slots will be available. Members are requested to make no more than three bookings in a week to allow all members the opportunity to book courts.

If you would like access to the system to make court bookings, please email membership@coopershilltennis.co.uk with your full name so that you will be able to access the system when it is live with all four courts.

As a Committee we remain committed to following government guidelines. In order to protect our club and its members the Committee has agreed a set of rules.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:

These rules are no longer applicable, please check latest update above for the latest club rules.

We cannot emphasise enough the necessity to follow government guidelines and the rules of our club. Failure to do this may lead to problems for the club so we will take such action very seriously. Any member who is found in breach of our rules, including playing with a non-member, will risk their membership being terminated.

Following discussions with the Coaching Team, the Committee has agreed that the club should proceed with caution at this time regarding our coaching programmes. Our intention is to resume individual coaching once the Committee and the Coaching team have had time to fully review the new protocols, consider how arrangements are working at other venues and enable us to return in a way which is most appropriate and safe for both our members and our coaches.

Finally, we continue to ask members to heed the government's advice if you are showing any of the symptoms associated with Covid-19 or if you are in any of the 'higher risk' categories. All members will be using the courts at their own risk.
