COVID-19 Information & Updates

These rules were in place during Step 3 of the Government's roadmap.
Please see the latest updates from 18th and 22nd July for Step 4 guidance.

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:
  • Social distancing to be maintained before, during and after play for all activity. Group socialising before and after play is subject to the rule of 30 outdoors. Indoors the rule of 6 or two households applies.

  • All players on court must be registered with the tennis club and have paid their annual subscription fee. Members may bring guests to the club and each guest may visit up to 5 times a year. The guest's details should be registered when making the court booking online and the guest fee must be paid within 48 hours of the guest's visit. Members are responsible for their guest and for informing their guest of the rules and procedures in place at the club.

  • Singles and doubles play is permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as members remain 2 metres apart as far as possible. For informal social play, group size is limited to a maximum of 30 people by law. When playing doubles with different households, members should agree in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court.

  • Session coordinators will be responsible for running club sessions. All members in attendance at club session must continue to maintain social distancing and register their attendance in the orange book located in the clubhouse.

  • Coaching protocols are in place for group and 121 coaching. These must be adhered to at all times.

  • The tennis court must have been booked via our online booking system and you must play only on the court booked. Members wishing to play on the wall at the club must book the court closest to the wall in order to do so.

  • For track and trace purposes all members when booking their court must enter in the booking system the first and last names of the people they are playing with as well as confirming whether each player is a member or a guest.

  • The clubhouse is in use subject to a number of conditions. A face covering must be worn when entering the clubhouse. The rule of 6 or two households applies indoors.

  • Players no longer need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however, if members choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure they do not touch their face during play, and members should clean their hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required);

  • Players should still avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other courts where possible - use your racket/foot to return them

  • Members should bring hand sanitiser/wipes with them to the courts to apply when entering and leaving the tennis courts. Members should use alcohol gel after touching any court gates, fences and other equipment

  • Only if absolutely necessary should the winders on the nets be used. If doing so, please ensure that either gloves or hand sanitiser/wipes are used at all times.

  • Players should use their own rackets where possible. Where rackets are shared they must be thoroughly cleaned before and after use

  • Keep more than 2 metres away from the members of any other household who may be at the club at the same time as you.

  • Spectating is permitted. Members must adhere to the social gathering limit for groups outdoors and indoors.

  • When entering and exiting the tennis courts please be considerate of other players on site.

  • Please ensure the courts are locked if you are the last to leave

  • Members must continue to adhere to social distancing and hand hygiene requirements when using the benches. All members must make sure that all their belongings are removed from court when exiting.

  • The usual rules apply with regard to supervision of Juniors. Yellow ball Juniors under 12 require adult supervision. Red/Orange/Green ball Juniors can only play with a parent who has ‘full’ or ‘parent’ membership with the club.

  • All members will be using the courts, benches and the clubhouse at their own risk.
