Club Update - 20th December 2020
Following the press conference held by Boris Johnson today a fourth tier of Covid restrictions has been set out.
Runnymede, along with the majority of Surrey, will be placed into tier four. The new restrictions will come into place at 12.01am on Sunday (December 20).
Unfortunately, this will have an impact on tennis at Coopers Hill. As you can appreciate, with such short notice being given, the updated guidance for tennis venues is still being discussed with the relevant bodies. However, the club has been informed of the following:
- Outdoor tennis courts can remain open for individual exercise, and for people to use with others within their household, support bubble, or with one person from another household.
- Organised outdoor sport for under 18s and disabled people will be allowed to continue in larger numbers.
- Indoor courts, gyms and sports facilities will need to close.
Therefore, we regret to announce that the club is suspending adult group coaching and club sessions until further notice. The club and the coaching team are awaiting further clarification regarding Junior and 121 coaching.
Further, the clubhouse will be closed to members, unless entering to operate the floodlights, whilst we await further guidance on the use of the clubhouse facilities.
With immediate effect members are only permitted to play on court with members from their household, support bubble or with one other person from a different household.
As soon as updated guidance is received we will provide members with a further update.
It is important that all members adhere to the latest Covid restrictions as they are in place to protect us all. Again, we would politely ask that all members continue to heed the government's advice if you are showing any of the symptoms associated with Covid-19 or if you are in any of the 'higher risk' categories.
Please stay safe and well and we thank you for your cooperation.
